Art In General

Mylinh Treiu Nguyen is one of our favorite designers. We met her through the artist David Horvitz and while she was the Walker Design Fellow in 2008, she designed our old website. We’ve been lucky enough to work with her on many projects.

In 2010 she was In Residence at Art In General. One of her projects was a reading room that had participatory elements on the internet. She saw one of our first chairs on Tumblr and asked us to create an environment for the physical manifestation.

We used some pieces from what became our first body of work “Field Recordings Made From Wood” and also developed some like-minded custom objects to go with them. Simple plywood and OSB materials with natural canvas cushions.

This was really the beginning of our furniture based projects and we’ll always be super grateful she asked us to do this.

will become,
than we are to try
for what we want
it to be.
