Rolph is an editor and Rebecca is a writer. They are originally from the midwest but had been living in New York for most of their adult lives. They were so excited to have a yard and hired us to make a space on a budget that offered some privacy and a gently modern aura.

We used our oft employed horizontal slat ‘agrarian’ fence, 2ft x 2ft concrete squares, and steel and welded wire mesh panels to create a quiet, organized geometry that repeats throughout the site and provides an echo of the home’s clean lines and right angles.

Long time Brooklyn residents move to Saint Paul and have a huge yard for the first time since they were children. The sixties era modern home makes it easy to create a functional, simple exterior on a budget.
