John and Tera had been trying for years to create a workable, functional front yard for their simple, modern home. They have a very shady site and had been re-sodding every couple years. Between the large oak trees that drop acorn, an unfortunate site wise slope and continuously dying grass, things looked bad and were not a good place to play with kids or hang out.

We solved the problems through tree pruning, leveling the site, using a high fescue blend of grass and that made room for some additional aesthetic geometry to create a stronger conversation between the house and site.
